The third T20I of the 3-match series between India and West Indies will be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, the home of both Mumbai Cricket Association and Mumbai Indians. Founded in 1974-75, the venue has hosted 25 Tests, 21 ODIs, and 6 T20Is till date.
The third international stadium of the city (after Bombay Gymkhana and Brabourne Stadium), Wankhede has witnessed several historic moments, most famously India’s win in the 2011 World Cup final. The venue has also hosted the 1987 World Cup semi-final as well as four other World Cup matches across three editions.
West Indies, too, have fond memories here. They had beaten England and India here in the 2016 World T20 en route their second title. The latter remains their only T20I win on Indian soil.
